The KTR8000 Type was a limited express train for Kitakinki Tango Railway Co., Ltd. which was introduced in 1996 and was appreciated as "Tango Discovery", which was applied mainly to the same name limited express train by Kitakinki Tango Railway Co., Ltd.
"Tango-no-Umi" was introduced in 2015 based on the KTR8000 Type with the image of "Kioto junto al mar".
All of the same type was introduced in September 2017.
Today is operated in a limited express train "Tango Relay" which is operated only within the Kyoto Tango Railway line, or in a part of limited express train "Maizuru" and "Hakodate" which is operated in connection with JR line to Kyoto station.
