Born in Sannohe-machi, Aomori Prefecture in 1927. In 1949, he moved to Tokyo and started as a manga artist. He won the 1st Shogakukan Manga Award at the Manga 『 ブウタン 』, the 15th Sankei Children's Publication Cultural Award at the 『 11 Piki no Neko 』, the 19th Bungeishunju Manga Award at the 『 11 Piki no Neko to Ahodori 』 and the Nihon Keizai Shimbun serial comic 『 Baku 』. He won the 19th Bungeishunju Manga Award at the 『 Emaki Ehon 11 Piki no Neko Marathon 』, the Bologna International Children's Book Exhibition selected by Italian children. For a series of achievements, he received the Minister of Education Award of the Japan Cartoonist Association in 1993 and the Medal with 1995 2001
