Each player is either a Caesar or a Cleopatra, and competes for more power by enlisting members of the Senate or high-ranking officials on their side.
Each of the five aristocrats is divided into rows, and each player alternates between an Influence Card (one to five influences) and an Action Card (which forces the player to throw away the card).
After eight cards have been played in each row, a vote of confidence is held, and the more influential player gets one of the aristocrats on his side.
An action card can be used to eavesdrop on the other player's hidden Influence Card, remove the other player's card, or even reverse the influence.
